| Lacey Green Windmill |

Dating from the 1650's
This Windmill is
the oldest smock mill to survive in the country. It was built around 1650. The mill retains its original
massive mid 17th century wooden machinery.
It stands on the escarpment of the Chilterns to take full advantage of the
prevailing winds. The mill was in use until 1915.
Restoration to preserve the mill and bring it back to working order was started in 1971
by 'The Chiltern Society'.
